Namely we'd drive away like pansies in my Grape, my Ranger with a rocket launcher and myself with the Lapis 2, and we'd beacon/rocket anything that was moving, and drop mines. Basically, we adopted late-19th-century dragoon infantry tactics. I just want to nerf the damn gold ants, either by reducing their insane damage (preferably), or drastically reducing the number of them that spawn so that they become a priority "light it up" target that stands out dramatically, or else reducing their HP to something close to emerald ants so they just get shredded when you point anything more dangerous than harsh language in their direction. If there's only One True Strategy to beat the damn things, then that means that literally everything else exists only to pollute drop tables. There's "harder," and there's BS, and then there's this: the kind of manure they'd use to fertilize mushroom silos in Pennsylvania.Īnd no, I'm not interested in watching some 1337 speedrunner's One True Strategy. I farmed the hell out of armor yonks ago, I'm still hitting the armor cap, and gold ants just delete me in one hit. The gold ants are just either way too damn common for being bosses in mook's clothing, or they're an order of magnitude too deadly. We wiped seven times on the mission today, even after we started trying to absolutely cheese it by driving away in a Grape while leaving mines and turrets behind us. We've tried Spritefalls and Shotguns, we've tried rocket launchers and gunship calls. We've tried everything we can think of with my friend being Ranger and me being Air Raider. They hit like two orders of magnitude harder than grey ants, they're not meaningfully less durable than grey ants, and they come in freaking swarms. We were doing fine, from Normal mode mission 1 all the way to Harder mission 16, and we've hit a brickwall: the swarming gold ants.
